Digital Realty, a US-based data center giant, has made a strategic move into Southeast Asia’s largest economy, Indonesia, by forming a 50:50 joint venture with Singapore’s Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia (BDIA). This move marks Digital Realty’s expansion into the growing digital market of Southeast Asia, bringing its global footprint to a new frontier.

The joint venture’s primary objective is to develop and operate data centers across Indonesia. In its initial phase, the partnership has taken over two Jakarta facilities previously managed by BDIA’s Bersama Digital Data Center. This collaboration leverages Digital Realty’s vast experience in the data center market and Bersama’s local knowledge and network within Indonesia.

As the digital economy in Southeast Asia continues to flourish, driven by increasing internet penetration and the growth of the technology sector, there is an escalating demand for data centers. Indonesia, with its robust economy and vast population, presents a significant opportunity for growth in this sector.

By entering the Indonesian market, Digital Realty is strategically positioning itself to tap into this burgeoning digital economy. This move not only showcases the company’s commitment to expanding its global presence but also highlights the potential of the Indonesian digital market.

The partnership with Bersama provides Digital Realty with a strong foothold in the region, which is expected to open up more opportunities for the company in the future. This venture is a testament to Digital Realty’s forward-thinking approach, as it continues to identify and pursue expansion opportunities in high-growth markets worldwide.
